About

Who: My name is Branden Yonah Johnson. I am a 30-something student at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies and aspiring rabbi living in Jerusalem. I grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and graduated from the University of Oregon. I love to travel and have lived in France, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Wisconsin, New York City, and Houston.

What: I began this project in the spring of 2015 for a couple of different reasons. The first: I love to cook, bake, and eat, and I wanted to share my culinary adventures with others. The second: I wanted to develop a meaningful source of reflection on my process of converting to Judaism.

Why: Since the age of 13, I have been fascinated by Judaism. Since 2010, I have been developing my skills as a chef and baker. My two passions came together when I discovered the joy of baking challah, and the importance of food in Jewish life and ritual.

How: Now, the content will take on new forms and significance as I embark on the journey toward becoming an ordained rabbi.

When: If you're reading this, that means we're live so ...

All are welcome at this table. Enjoy!
