Who: My name is Branden Johnson. I am a 30-year-old resident of Houston, Texas. I grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and graduated from the University of Oregon. I love to travel and have lived in France, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Wisconsin, and New York City
What: This Web site! I am undertaking this project for a couple of different reasons. The first is: I love to cook, bake, and eat, and I want to share my culinary adventures with others. The second is: I want to develop a meaningful source of reflection on my process of converting to Judaism, as I approach the next step on my journey.
Why: Since the age of 13, I have been fascinated by Judaism. Since 2010, I have been developing my skills as a chef and baker. My two passions came together when I discovered the joy of baking challah, and the importance of food in Jewish life and ritual.
How: This site will explore those themes as I experiment with new recipes, learn about the history of Jewish foods and traditions, and continue to study for the purpose of conversion.
When: If you're reading this, that means we're live so ...
All are welcome at this table. Enjoy!
